Phospholipid Research: How to Submit a Grant Application to the Phospholipid Research Center

We know that preparing phospholipid funding applications is time-consuming and often stressful. That is why we have put together some documents here to help you write your grant application for your phospholipid-related research.

These templates contain guidelines that must be followed! Otherwise it may lead to a rejection of your application.

A clear structure and outline of essential details relating to the experiment will provide a sound basis for the Scientific Advisory Council to enable a swift evaluation of the proposal by the Board.

We are carrying out a two-stage application process to optimise the application procedure. That means, applicants are first asked to submit a short PRE-proposal, which will be reviewed by the Scientific Advisory Council. If this review is positive, the applicant will be invited to submit a FULL-proposal by the next deadline.

As of the deadline on November 30, 2025, invited FULL-proposals will be accepted and reviewed by our Scientific Advisory Council.

As of the deadline on April 30, 2026, new PRE-proposals will be accepted.

In case you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact the Phospholipid Research Center via info@phospholipid-research-center.com.

Extent and duration of the financial support

The extent and duration of the financial support depends on predicted research efforts and the attractiveness of the proposal. Normally, the funding of PhD thesis projects is for 3–4 years and postdoc projects for 1–2 years. In general, the funding includes salary, chemicals & consumables, and travel funds (these funds should be initially used to visit events organized by the Phospholipid Research Center). The costs may be funded completely or partially. However, technical employees, additional university overhead costs, and acquisition of equipment are not financed.

The funding sum, especially the salary, should be related to the country specific costs for such projects. These costs need to be justified by referring to official country specific guidelines issued by, e.g., the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNF), The Dutch Research Council (NWO), or the German Research Foundation (DFG).

How to report

INTERIM AND FINAL REPORTS

The Phospholipid Research Center requests progress reports after achieving mutually agreed milestones (please see the provided templates) which are made available to the Scientific Advisory Council.

Payments will be made after the research achievements have been reported, as described in the research proposal. The final and possibly intermediate results should be published in reputable journals with acknowledgment of the support provided by the Phospholipid Research Center. The Scientific Advisory Council of the Phospholipid Research Center will decide on the awarding of research grants.
